DESCRIPTION
Other names include Walking Onion and Top-set Onion. A unusual perennial onion that sets bulbils on it’s head that encourages the plant to flop down under their weight. These bulbils can then sprout and take root to grow another plant - hence “walking” onion. Has a variety of culinary uses. The onion in the ground can be eaten, with a more intense, spicy flavour than white or red onions. The leaves can be used as spring onion leaves, and the bulbils can be harvested as shallots.
